Your First Lesson

What to Expect at Your First Lesson

Your first lesson is meant to be relaxed, inspiring, and enjoyable. It marks the beginning of your personal journey into music—an opportunity to explore not only the piano but also your creative self. First days can come with a bit of nervous energy, and that’s perfectly normal. This is a moment to celebrate the start of something meaningful, and I'm here to guide you every step of the way.

When we meet, we'll take some time to get to know each other. I’ll ask a few simple questions to better understand your musical background, interests, and goals:

  • What drew you to music?

  • What styles or artists do you enjoy?

  • Are there short-term goals you'd like to reach—like learning a favorite song?

  • Do you have any long-term musical dreams or aspirations?

  •

These conversations help me tailor lessons to suit your unique interests, learning style, and motivations.

We’ll also go over what lessons will look like going forward—what kind of commitment music asks of us, and how we can set realistic and exciting goals together.

Of course, we'll also spend time at the piano. Whether you’re brand new or returning to music, we’ll explore the instrument, begin making sounds, and even play something small and motivating that you can take home with you. I always aim for students to leave their first lesson feeling inspired and encouraged—something that stays with you and keeps you excited to return.

Your first lesson should be a memory you look back on fondly, and I look forward to creating that experience with you.
